The Postural Therapy of the breath Body
The Postural Therapy of the breath Body
A new therapeutical approach to postural Breathing Motion
The non-invasive manual procedures of this way are able to ameliorate a diversity of chronic affections of the spine like arthrosis or discal hernia.
The origin of multiple dysfunctions of the pelvic and shoulder girdle (motion restriction and hypermobility) should be seen as the major problem of a not achieved compensation`s effort according to the inherent body postural / structural balancing in space, against earth`s gravity. The nature of this balance mechanism is based in non-symmetrical motion.
The unilateral definition of asymmetry as one of the three pathological factors (together with motion restriction and tissues change) which cause the so-called “somatic dysfunction“ is one of the greatest errors that prevail within the evaluation of body *s physiological movement expression.
There are in fact non-symmetrical defaults that in some cases ( most of all caused by apophysary joint`s fixation) have to be removed from the structural level of the body, but normally most the body needs rather a specifical form of non-symmetrical movement to complete it`s natural position in space.
This kind of non-symmetrical movement is essential for our breathing performance because it alignes body`s center of gravitation with the postural focal point of phrenical breath movement.
Based on this phenomena the Quaternio-Therapy has developed a new physiological conception of “breath body motion“ which associates structural body analysis with the non-symmetrical centering of the specifical movement above (supraphrenical) and below (subphrenical) the diaphragmatic level.
This knowledge of breath body motion allows the Quaternio-therapist to interpret and to work with body`s non-symmetrical data in a completely different “modus operandi“ compared to other manual therapy systems such as osteopathiy or chiropractice.
The manual integrative approach to breath body motion`s dysfunction enables the therapist to treat certain vegetative derailments of the body, which produce such forms of diseases, whose etiological roots remain in the dark.
The expression “somatic-visceral“ implies the importance of body`s position in space, which is related to the respective functions of assimilation and dissimilation in the viscera.
“Visceral-somatic“ is the counter-expression that reveals the reverse of the former situation: Dsyfunction in the viscera can induce postural unbalance with musculoskeletal disorder and pain.
The breath body motion is the mediator par excellence between this two forms of body`s dysfunction. It´s functional aim is always to adapt and to aligne body`s gravity with those phrenical movement patterns, which uncounscious inducement obeys to the actual needs of the vegetative situation in the body.
There are several forms of phrenical movement patterns that correspond to the different positons of our body in space. The non-symmetrical alignement of the musculoskeletal (=postural) system will bring out another kind of visceral activity in the body through the altered focal point of phrenical movement in body`s inner space.
The non-symmetrical twisted form of the phrenical movement patterns are the main base of breath body`s motion.
The Quaternio`s conception of inner space in the human body opens a new door for a better understanding of the non-symmetrical signs, unknown digits of the body language. Most of the time these signs act as warning labels that should not be ignored by therapists in their treatments. The decipherment of these asymmetrical signs enables the Quaternio-therapist to work with the most efficiency and to avoid worsenings that disturb deeply the postural compensation`s effort of the body.
The usual practice to eliminate one apparent short leg lenght leads often to
impasses in breathbody motion`s activity. The aim is to give the lost movement that enables our breath body to perform its work of postural balancing in our daily life, not blocking its non-symmetrical motion activity in our body.
The right strategy never try to eliminate the good compensation`s effort of the body; the better way consists in the adding of the lost motion. Our body owns the ability to regulate and to heal itself.
Apart from the therapy work of Quaternio, this healing way gives us a completely new form of body exercises that combine movement with breath: The breathing figures.
The work of Victor M. Robert can also be denominate in “a kind of Yoga for the west“.

It is a new form of manual therapy and new form of body exercises developed by Victor M. Robert that goes far beyond the musculoskeletal plane of our body. It permits a direct contact with the vegetative nervous system including all visceral organs and their substantial influence on the physiology of somatic-visceral and visceral-somatic movement patterns. These movement patterns are intrinsically and primarily connected with the breathing process, more precisely with its structural alignement with earth`s gravity through the functional interaction between the phrenical movement and the postural balance of the column spine. The specifical breath body movements of the Quaternio-Therapy can be seen as a new kind of western Yoga. It can change deeply the landscape of manual therapy procedures introducing a new form of body awareness and body movement perception in our western civilisation.
